A home for everyone.

Michael Lloyd is the innovative and creative mind behind Accommodationz. For him, it’s about “getting people to think about what they would love their next accommodation experience to be like while also working together with them to achieve a common goal.” And what exactly is the common goal? Hassle-free accommodation options for access travelers all over New Zealand because everyone, especially persons with disabilities and access needs, deserve a relaxing and enjoyable vacation no matter what walks of life they come from.

The key difference between MyAccom and other home-share websites is that the properties listed in our site are residential homes occupied or managed by people with experience in disabilities or access needs and people closely connected with the access community. Depending on the needs of access travelers, all properties have complied with necessary guidelines to ensure a safe and comfortable stay for all guests.

While the entire MyAccom website is currently on the works, this is your chance to get On board and position yourself as an early-bird MyAccom host.

  • Are you interested in earning income from an unused room or granny flat in your home, apartment, or unit?
  • Does your home or a property that you manage meet access or disability-related requirements?
  • Have you ever considered the idea that travelers with disabilities or access needs might value your lived experience when it comes to handling similar situations?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you can easily list your property and become a MyAccom host.

Why should I become a MyAccom host?

Additional revenue

Make money and increase your income stream from renting out your spare room or even an entire property. Whether part-time or full-time, be assured of earnings without investing heavily in capital or overhead costs. As living standards rise, who doesn’t need a few extra dollars?

Time flexibility

Set when you want to be open for business and when you don’t. With MyAccom, control your own time and create a schedule revolving around your personal or family timetable.

Learning and personal growth

Being a MyAccom host allows you to upskill and learn how to manage your own business. You’ll get to manage bookings, customer enquiries and reviews, and payments, among other things. It can be a lot of work, but it’s also a great and rewarding experience at the same time.

Meet great people

Whether your guests are locals or international tourists travelling for different reasons, each person you host is unique. Grow your social circle and meet people and whanau with similar access needs.

Support Access Travellers

Enlist your property to a growing resource of short-term accommodations that allow people with disabilities, access needs, or specialist living requirements to feel more at home and retain their dignity.

Build a Community

Link up with other MyAccom hosts as we build a supportive community of people managing their listings and learning how to best serve their guests while simultaneously living and enjoying life.

Creating a sense of belonging

A sense of home is a sense of belonging. Belonging doesn’t demand that we change who we are, but it encourages that we become who we are and be in a space where we can express ourselves freely.

Just imagine this – Wouldn’t it be great if you had a rewarding and lucrative home-based business that also helps you to connect with travelers coming from different physical and social backgrounds?

MyAccom believes that we should celebrate the whakapapa, attributes, talents, knowledge, and skills that we have been blessed with; to celebrate and promote what we can do rather than what we can’t. Our gifts are worthy of sharing and will be valued by others who receive them.

Who are these guests?

At least a quarter of our population currently lives with a disability and up to 40 percent with an access need.

Having appropriate access to environment, facilities, information, services, and social interaction are not only important to those travelling with permanent physical disabilities but also to parents with small children, elderly travellers, and people with temporary injuries such as a broken leg, as well as their travel companions.

We all have an access need at some stage in our lives.

Research shows that the New Zealand domestic access traveller market should be about the same size as our pre-covid Chinese tourism market. With our borders opening again, this is a huge opportunity to provide excellent accommodation options and experiences for our international and domestic access community and build a locally owned business for yourself.

Global trends show that compared to the average individual standard traveller, the average access traveller tends to travel with an additional 1.9 people and stay at a chosen accommodation option for 2.4 times longer. The good news is that the more people staying in your property, the more income you earn.

Don’t you just love a win-win situation?
